almost finished up my 1.6L 8v engine swap and the last thing i have to do is sort out this starter
When i first installed it the starter worked fine turning the engine over. But then I removed it and put it back on and since then it grinds, but still starts the vehicle. Now she grid a little and then spins.
The flywheel has been flipped. Any suggestions......want to drive this thing:(

almost 20 years of a starter turning the on the one side of the teeth and had problems before with a 1.3L starter (it was the starter gear that was the problem). So now it's like haveing new teeth:D

I was meaning the starter. Could it be hanging up on the endboss?

sorry what do you mean by the endboss?
Im thinking now that the starter gears might have ground down to much cause she grinded today and the vehicle started but now she spins
I'm trying to get another starter for it to try my "theory"

The machined step in the started body for locating it in the transmission case.

ah o.k
I've tried adjusting it by loosening the bolts and movint it around but in every position it's the same result.
Also the screws holding the solinoid on come loose.....not sure if it matters or not I'm just going to put some locktight on them. but even when I tighten them back up the starter still grinds
