I want to run an automatic tranny in my zuk. The only way I can think of doing this is by running a kick engine. My zuk is already a fuelly so I don't want to have to change all the wiring around to end up at square one, plus I don't really care for the extra ponies, 66hp is good enough for me. So that is why I want to run the kick block with the 1.3 head. I have a kick block in my basement doing nothing now anyways, that would just leave me the tranny to get!
What would I need to make this work? As in Kick parts and sami parts?
Any help would be appreciated?
Chris

There is only one person that i know did this set up and that is offyourrocker on this board. But he was not fuelie. your computer may cause some headaches for this as he may have run a kik ecm solely to make the tranny shift.
He is rarely on this board so a Pm or an e-mail may help.

WTF you talkin about ? I did this myself. He used the 1.6 head and pony carb, I used the 1.3 head and sami carb.
Only thing you gotta do is swap the cam sprocket. And fuk with the mounts to make it fit.

How do you make the automatic transmission shift gears without the imput from the kik automatic Ecm? The ecm has something to do with the shifting and such but i am not sure to what extent.
I know that you did it and i was thinking that route as well but i would have opted for a manual tranny like your stock tranny or even the manual kik tranny.

y swap the whole head? just swap the intake manifold and keep the 1.6 head on the 1.6 block. That way u dont touch no cam sprocket.
The only thinkg im not 100% sure on is all u sensors. Im pretty sure than any sensors on ur 1.3 block and head are on the 1.6 so it's just plug and play if u keep the 1.3 intake.
As far as the tranny goes, I've heard that if u just bolt it up, it will shift gears without the ecm, again, never saw this but i've heard it a few times. I think thats what off-ur-rocker did with his auto tranny.

I think it depends if it has Overdrive. the over drive is usually rum through the ECM

well i don't have a kick head. Only the block. If I can get a cheap complete 1.6 minus the intake and exhaust manifold I will do it that way. I was planning on just using the 3sp not the 4sp so there wouldnt be an overdrive.
But am still worried about the ecm!
I emailed off-ur-rocker, but he hasn't responded. HAs he been around lately?
Thanks for the info, keep it coming.

Just split on with a friend a tracker, I get the engine tranny t-case, he gets everything else, so I will be doing it that way. (no auto for now though, I am getting the 5sp version :-( ) Is it the same FI system on the kick as a fuel sami? I was wondering if I could just run my intake manifold off the 1.3, so I dont need to worry about wiring.
Thanks

Nobody that i know has tried the 1.3 intake (where all the sensors are located) on a 1.6 block and head but i have thought about it alot. It bolts up and should work fine. Saves all the hassle of re-wiring for sure. If you want a little extra juice try porting the intake runners a bit to match the 1.6 head.
Should work and lemme know how it is after, cause that may be my next route, in a cheap engine up grade.
Sure would love to go 1.6 16 valve thats for sure!!!

Mudpig and i did the 1.3 intake on his 1.6 head - carb'd though - with no probs. direct bolt on, we jsut needed to extend a couple vaccum hoses to reach and add an inline fuel pump but since ur runing a fuelie to start, u already got an intank.
Try that route first.

what about using a 1.3 16v head on an 8v 1.6 block?
any diff between 16v and 8 v blocks?
just wondering, i have both a swift gt and 8v tracker that run great.

is the gt head dohc? I heard that the distribute caps in the swift heads are in the way of the firewall, don't know though, never tried or seen the swap in person.

this has been done before, xfactor is the person to speek to or look up the thread and do some research on it first before you call anyone.
