Just picked this one up for cheap.
84 SJ, with samurai 1.3/5 speed, stock 84 case
Plan is toy diffs wich I got off a buddy, TJ coils with a 3 link front, CJ springs rear, dual trannies, 4:1 case and I got a pile of tube sitting beside it. Got all the parts, just need to get it together. Wheeled it once as is (after replacing the head gasket) and its pretty fun to beat on, especialy bouncing off the rev limiter at 6500 RPM :D

Only thing I did too it is built the rocker gaurds to keep it somewhat straight befor its caged.

it'd be a BUNCH easier to go cj's up front and coils out back.

and they do flex good.

that's with stock springs up front, traingulated 3 link rear.

are you from BC? the links you posted are from island 4x4?

Id like to keep the rear axle in pretty much stock location and CJ springs will put it back a couple inches. Id like the front forword a few more inches without extending the frame. I got a pretty solid design for the front suspension that a guy i know runs and its great on and off road, and wheres the fun in it being easy? :thefinger

Ya, im from BC.

Also since its an SJ the frame is 4" narower then samuria's so id have to outboard the front springs as well. I'd rather just link it.

a 410 frame is not narrower.

they use different body mounts, and different spring mounts., that's it. i've had one frame sittin on top of another, and you couldn't tell em apart other then the body mounts, spring mounts, t-case tranny mounts. the width and length is the same

actually the newer frames widened out in the rear but not by much, just enough to remodify my rear tube bumper I built on an 88.5, to fit onto an 85

late model 88.5 up, and early model 80-88.5 are different, but most sammi's we get out here seem to be 87 86 or sj's. i've never seen the frame on an 88.5 up.

Did some digging, the frame is'nt narower, the spring width is 2" narower on either side because the diffs are 2" narower.
