I have an 88.5 zuke, it's a byatch to start. Once started it re-starts like a dream but initial cold starts take forever. I'm assuming choke issue. Help, where do I start to fix this and Ive thoroughly cleaned and soaked everything in and around the carb. Been living with this problem long enough, time to fix it.

Pete I have a 88.5 sami also with choke problems, mine revs up really high as soon as it starts, this is with a new reman carb no matter what i replace or try to adjust it doesn't change anything I am looking into other carb options thinking about running a toyota carb with manual choke maybe you should look around also

The choke mech on a Sammy carb is either a bi metalic spring or vacuum operated...either way rip that shit off and replace it with a manual choke. You need to booty fab the connection to the carb but its not to hard, just make sure it doesn't get in the way of the throttle assembly....that would be bad.

i think they are $10 in the "rescue" section in Crappy tire.

Sounds like a great idea. Now how about a hint for a booty fab. If someone has already had some trial and error experience then throw me a frikin bone! Seriously, I assume you mean a cable style choke with some linkage to contend with?

I haven't done it but it should be straight forward, the setup would be like throttle linkage on a lawn tractor,my 88.5 dash even has a little pocket to the left of steering wheel to mount pull choke. You might have to rig some sort of bracket to hold carb endof cable, but that should be it.

I,ve got a manual choke on my 88.5 , it was simple to hook up .Although i run a weber which has all the linkage on it allready. Picked up a cable at the local auto supply

Lot of luck, those feedback carbs are brutal to do anything with
