Another fix I want to takle. What tools do I need to do this and what problems will I encounter. Anybody done this that can offer advise?

pretty much all you need for valve seals is a spring compressor, a lil magnet is helpfull to take the lil retaining clips off, and a torque wrench to torque your head down after it's all done. Also lable everything so you dont get them mixed up.

As stupid as this sounds try the LucasŪ Oil stabalizer, i did it on one of the zuk motors that sat for a while and smoked hard at startup, popped in the LucasŪ and BOOM it was gone,
Just a thought, cheaper then a head job

just wondering what it costs to get a top end rebuild?? or to buy a complete top end

Dunno bout you, but im cheap, just as soon buy a good running 1.3 and do a swap, rather then pay all that cash. mind you the insides of the 1.3 head are somewhat simplistic, had the misfortune to have to redo one or two. mm....valve lash....blech!
