Without a working elec snap-in for my alternator. Had a head gasket go south about 18 mos. ago and I toasted some of the wiring around the block including that little bugger that snaps into the top of the alternator. No chance for a new replacement as it's part of a bleedin' $400 wiring harness and finding one I can scavenge from one of the local Phoenix boneyards has been a bust. Tried jury rigging the old one (I'm a former elec's apprentice so I have some skills in that direction) but I just can't seem to get a solid reliable fix. I've been battling this thing for at least six month's now and I'm at the end of my rope.
Is there another make/model alternator (that's in greater supply at the boneyards that I can pull the elec fitting from) that's a workable match to the 87 Sammurai? Or maybe one of you Zook veterans has dealt with this kinda thing before and y'all know a workaround of some kind. Meantime, guess I'll go recahrge the battery ... again.
