I'm rebuilding my 83 toy housings. I priced wheel bearings from a local auto supply, not a bad price but I got a better price from a bearing shop(of course) but nobody could supply king pin bearings. Any body run into this before?I figured I would have toget the knucle seals from a dealer but I guess I'll have to get kingpin bearings also.I ordered my Lockrite today It"ll be here on friday:ro: I should have my housings sandblasted soon so I can weld on them what I need and shoot some paint on them. Next modify 84 t-case and a Iltis rad , snorkel, larger fuel tank etc etc etc O I also drive this every day. I need some vaction time.

king pin bearings - dealer item... call up Dr. Dave at Weitz's Toyota in North York - 416-226-6585, tell him ur a wheeler and he'll k nock off 10 points for yah, i think they were 30 or 35 bucks a pop.
knuckle rebuild seals, dealer item also, 30 bucks per side complete, steel ring, rubber gasket and felt gasket... much cheaper than zuks.

I would just buy a knuckle re-build kit from the states somewhere. They sell anywhere from 85-99 bucks with the seals and kingpin bearings.
If you are going to spend $120.00 CAD on just bearings from the dealer i would justr spend the $160.00 or so and get all of the seals with it, and it's not very heavy so get it rush delivered and have it in a couple of days.
Thats what i would do and just may, considering the outer seals are $25.00 a side from the dealer.

Here is what I got out of all my research
Lockrite is loud, and harsh to drive with and the backlash can be...well scarey.
Aussie locker is very quiet and works well, the only backlash that you hear is a slight clicking sound when you are at hard left or right.
Lockrite is easily avaialble
Aussie locker....not so much.
I bought the Aussie and I love it, it works mint!!

Do a search on Torquemaster on Pirate. The Torquemaster company is a small company and is seeing lots of inquiries and is also having challenges. They are however as far as I know honouring everything they have said, but are having issues adhering to short timelines. They are receiving enough email and phone traffic that it is slowing down other things. Read up on it, and you can see his responses, and judge for yourself whether they are goping to be good to deal with. They have not billed anything that is not ready to ship.... so, my take is that they are just suffering from growing pains...
