K i'll will be the first one to tell ya i am not a mechanic at all, but here i am installing my first clutch on my sami. Tear down was easy, but when i tried to align the clutch with the pilot bearing i ran into a interesting problem, the damn tool is too long....... no problem i'll just drop the trany and move on.....OH ya, failed to notice the crossmember is welded and if i weasle the tranny out then i can't fit it back in with the clutch installed (not enough room). Anyways buying a proper alignment tool tomorrow (universal domestic one wasnt cutting it).Just totally boggled why the cross member is welded in place.blah blah blah ramblings of a inept mechanic.

The mere fact that yare attempting it gives u points, and sometimes even for those who have done a few dozen clutches can find it aggravating at times. My first zuk clutch took me hours and a few dozen curse words & bloody knuckles b4 she decided to "thunk" in place, Don't sweat it, with the right alignment pin it'll slide right in. My last one i took out the center driveshaft and just moved the tranny as far back as i could & strapped it up, was a bit of a tight fit but it worked.
Good luck to ya bud, and dont sweat it, most of us have been there at least once. Hell i dropped my first tranfer case on my chest and broke a rib hehe so dont get discouraged. The victory beer tastes sweeter when its all back together anyways

Put a block of wood between the dist. housing and the firewall before you take the tranny off of the engine.

finally got it done ..had to cut down the alignment tool, and center it by feel cause i couldn't see but it all worked out int the end, centerforce dosent supply the tool. Couldnt tilt the motor anymore without the distributer hitting the fire wall, and that wasnt enought to clear the tranny.
The victory beer was very tasty, thanks for the input:beer:
