I'm looking for a cheap 5spd tranny to replace in my 95 tracker 2dr. I tranny's toast and I want to get it up and running as soon as possible. thanks. Is there any difference between the 4dr 5spd and the 2dr 5spd?

No difference between 2 and 4dr Track/Kick tranny's.

someone correct me if I'm wrong but 4dr trannys have a lower 1st and higher 5th. my buddy scott's 98 4dr kick revs at 3000rpm @ 100km/h in 5th. his is equipped with 5.13's and a 1.6 16V. not sure on the 1st gear, but I did hear it from a reliable source.

does any one know if a 2wd 5spd tranny will work?

the tailhousing ends are different although I'm sure it can be removed to bolt a t'case in instead but don't quote me on that.
otherwise you can maybe use the whole 2wd tranny and slip an intermediate shaft adapted to a samurai t'case instead of a kick t'case. the advantage to this is a stronger t'case and gear reduction in both high/lo ranges.
