Nice, but weren't you going with a 4 seater this time?

Depends on the day you ask me :D

This rig is being built with comps in mind. Very small two seater. I'm setting it up with rock crawls, rock racing and KOH style racing in mind. The KOH style would likely need some extra bling parts but not too many mods to the chassis and drivetrain.

I'm also building a CJ7 which will be my 4 seater family wheeler. If my wife and kids do start coming out wheeling, I'll build a 4 seater buggy to replace the CJ7. This build has been enjoyable enough, that I already feel like building another tube chassis. I haven't enjoyed working on my rig this much for a long time.

Here's two quick pics of how it looks right now. I still have lots of work to do to have it comp and trail ready.

In these pics it sits about 1-3" too high depending how where I set the uptravel at.

The shop is 40x40 if I include the storage room. Lots of room for my projects :D

It sure beats the old days of a gravel driveway and a large shed back in Calgary.

Thanks! :thefinger Actually I've already rolled it twice. :D

I took the Whipple off for now so i can make sure the basics are working well. The engine under it is a 4.3L V6. It's getting custom shorty headers, a Comp cam, 96+ vortec heads, an Edelbrock intake and the Whipple. It should put out close to 350 hp and lots of torque.

Keep it up!!

Well, with the ORCC being cancelled this year, the drive to finish this puppy is not too high. Still, it would be nice to have her done.

For the side body panels, I'll be using lexan. I'm not sure what I'll do for the rear yet. Maybe a very narrow LJ80 look. To be honest I may not use the LJ80 hood during comps. I could make a small aluminum hood that would give a lot more front visibility. Also, I'm not sure how easy it will be to find more LJ80 hoods if... I mean "when" the hood gets crunched.

Here's a couple newer pics. I just have wiring and brake lines to do to be able to pull this sucker out of the shop on its own power.

The buggy saw its first test run at NHTTI. No real issues to report and the rig worked well. Now I just have to finish the panels, hood and grill to make it look LJ80ish.

Kind of crappy pics but that's all I took.

What panels ???

xtrmtoy

What panels ???

The panels that are waiting to be cut out of the 4x8 sheet of lexan in my shop. :thefinger

Panels don't make it wheel any better so they are last on the list.

Here's few pics of the buggy...I mean LJ80... after returning from the Nov 7th Rausch Creek RCRocs Race with a 3rd place finish. A total of 31 rigs entered and the race consisted of eight 8.5 mile laps. It was a blast!
